The Institute for Educational Research (Belgrade, Serbia) is an independent organization dealing with educational research and dissemination and application of its results into educational practice. Main fields of work of the Institute are educational research, in-service training of teachers, publishing and consultancy. Focal thematic areas are student achievement; teaching and learning (inquiry based learning, interdisciplinary teaching, cooperative learning, motivation to learn, textbook analysis); equity in education (inclusive education, multicultural education, poverty and education, gifted and talented children); social relations in school (classroom management, stereotypes in classroom, student autonomy, prevention of violence, democratization of schools, parent-school relations); teacher professional development and methodology in educational research.

 

The Institute has 31 employees, out of which 26 are part of research staff. Researchers mainly have pedagogical or psychological background, but there are also language experts, sociologists, experts in science, education etc. The Institute involves in its different projects a wide network of associates from educational institutions (from schools to universities), research institutes and other civil society organizations, from the Republic of Serbia and worldwide, thus additionally assuring the quality of its undertakings.
